What courses do we take in first-year?


First-year courses include: Core Biology, Systemic Anatomy, Human Physiology, Pathology, Dental Pharmacology, General Medicine, Head & Neck Anatomy, Dental Anatomy, Biomaterials, Operative Dentistry, Occlusion, Oral Histology, Oral Diseases, Patient Assessment, Clinical Procedures I, and Introduction to Clinics. What clinical exposure do we get in first-year?


During your first-year, after the General Medicine block, you will have the opportunity to shadow in the main clinic (Endodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, etc.) and the oral surgery clinic. Here you get to observe third and fourth year students work with the school’s patients, and you will get an insight into your life two to three years from now. There are also many presentations through clubs and organizations such as the Alpha-Omega Organization and Schulich’s chapter of the Student Professionalism and Ethics Association.




How can first-years get involved in UWODSS, and what positions are open to us?


The first year class president holds a spot on UWODSS council, and the secretary position is also open for a first year student. Both of these positions are filled through a class election within the month of September. At the end of first year, students can run for the following positions: Junior VP of Programming, VP Administration, VP Finance and VP Information Technology Commissioner




Where are some potential places to live?


If you are looking for on-campus apartments, some places are Ausable Hall, Bayfield Hall and Lambton Hall. More information can be found here. Since the on-campus apartments can be difficult to get into some close by off-campus apartments include: - Luxe - Timbercreek Communities - Jacksway If you are looking for downtown apartments, the following may be of interest to you: - 180 Mill St. - The Renaissance - Old Oak Properties (they have some places not in downtown as well)
